Policy
initiatives :
• Conatura
provides government officials, specialists, and stakeholders with
technical analysis of legislation, especially as it pertains to
conservation. We are currently preparing a thorough report on the
the new Supreme Decree signed in February, 2004, which we will publish
on this website.
• In May
of 2004, the U.S. Fish Wildlife Service will conduct a two-year
evaluation of vicuña management in Peru.
Opinions from stakeholders, experts in the fields of conservation, law,
anthropology are welcome as they produce their final report. The
U.S. Fish and Wildlife service needs informed opinions. Conatura also
welcomes opeinions from experts and stakeholders as we continue to
collect data on the effects of the latest legislation. As we
receive reports and opinions from Andean communities, with their
permission, we will publish them to this site. We also
ask that you contact us if you have legal, economic, anthropological,
and biological expertise with regards to the current legislation.
